Tunisian Blogger's Trial has been Postponed by Military Court
Military court of Tunis has postponed today, January 16th, the Tunisian bloggers’ trial Hakim Ghanmi to February 25th. Hakim Ghanmi appeared this morning before the Tunis Military Court of Appeals over charges of 'army defamation'. Hakim Ghanmi is the author of Warakat Tounisia; he has criticised, in one of his articles, the Gabes Military hospital direction of patient ill-treatment and. Hakim Ghanmi has been subject to legal proceedings by the military court since 10th April, 2013 and was subject to many court audiences since then (click on the link). He was already fined 240 Tunisian Dinars by the Permanent Military Tribune of Sfax last July.
Today, more and more opinion leaders, bloggers and journalists are victims of growing hostility from public authorities and some ruling party leaders. It is shameful to see a civilian blogger sewed by a military court. This is an indication that the path towards freedom of expression in Tunisia is still long.
